About and how we compare

The Pro Verdict helps US buyers choose between specific products they are already considering, starting with cordless drills, impact drivers and combo kits.

Comparisons are researched by Rob Pitman, a licensed electrician based in Australia, using published US manufacturer specifications and manuals and authorized retailer information. We use exact US model numbers and kit suffixes, because a bare tool and a kit are different purchases.

We do not claim hands-on testing unless a comparison says so. Where we cite an independent test, we name it and link to it. Owner reviews and forums help us find questions to answer; they are not treated as proof of a failure rate.

Every material claim on a comparison page lists its source and the date we checked it. When sources disagree, we leave the claim out or explain the uncertainty. We only compare figures measured on the same basis.

Recommendations are for a stated buyer and job, not a universal winner. Commission rates never decide which product we recommend.
